Farmhouse Renovation - Board Match!

The Farmhouse at Prairie Oaks Institute is a beautiful, sturdy brick house built on this Century Farm by the Schmidt-Devine family.

This house was the center of family life on the farm and is now poised to become a center for renewal and retreat at Prairie Oaks Institute.

Much work has already been done by many willing volunteers, scraping, sanding and painting. Generous friends have made a start with donating beds and bedding.

We have an exciting initiative this fall to complete the renovation of the Farmhouse, including a project that will involve a local artist, a local art teacher and students collaborating on creating a faux finish in the stairwell and upstairs hallway.

A major improvement will be the addition of two bathrooms upstairs at the Farmhouse. When complete, these renovations and improvements will expand our capacitiy and make it possible to support larger group retreats at Prairie Oaks.
