FAMILY Y OF ALBERT LEA MINNESOTA INC

The Albert Lea Family Y has a rich history in Freeborn County since 1914. The programs and activies continually evolve to meet the ever changing needs of the community. The Albert Lea Family Y's mission: To put christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all; is its driving force.
The Albert Lea Family Y programs are the tools to build the values of caring, respect, honesty and responsibility. Through a variety of programs and activities these values are spread accross the community. The Albert Lea Family Y serves over 3000 members and even more non-members through a wide variety of building and community programs. No one is ever denied membership or access to programs and activities of the Albert Lea Family Y due to inability to pay thanks to generous contributions to the annual Youth Fund Drive and support from our local United Way.
All second graders in Freeborn County receive free membership to the Albert Lea Family Y thanks to the United Way, and all third graders receive free membership thanks to local support from Mrs. Gerry's Kitchen, Alliance Benefit Group and Youth Fund Drive Dollars. By getting children involved at a young age helps to ensure a positive health and wellness foundation.
The Albert Lea Family Y believes there is strength in working with others to develop unique, efficient, and quality programs; while avoiding duplication of services. Collaboration with many other agencies and organizations provides for much impact in developing a healthy community.
Volunteerism is a major component in all of the Albert Lea Family Y's activities. without great volunteers the opportunity to serve the community would be more difficult. When individuals and families enter the Family Y we hope that it is their first step in becoming actively involved. Vounteerism is truly a program of the Y that can and does impact positively the lives of many. Areas include coaching, babysitting, fitness instructing, water exercise, teen leadership and dasy camp to name a few.
The Albert Lea Family Y is here to help people Live Long and Stay Strong in spirit, mind and body. Through working with the community to develop these qualities the Family Y is helping to build a healthier community.
