to fund research that is not only helping those affected by FA, but has made significant contributions to breast, ovarian and other cancers
Fanconi Anemia is a very rare disease that has less than 3000 patients worldwide. It often leads to bone marrow failure or leukemia requiring a dangerous bone marrow transplant for survival and many other cancers all at a very early age. Sadly, many patients do not reach adulthood. However, dedicated research helping effectively manage, increasing lifespan, and improving outcomes until a cure can be found. Even more importantly, FA research is creating pathways and new directions with findings for a variety of diseases & cancers, including Breast and Ovarian Cancers. Supporting FA research can literally impact millions that are unaffected by FA
On May 1,2011 we will observe our second annual International Fanconi Anemia Day. Last year, our inaugural effort, we had participants in events around the globe from six countries in addition to our online fundraising efforts. Families and supporters raised $135,000 to help fund research. Our second year's slogan is "Together we can find a cure." Without your help continued research would not be possible and lives would be lost. Donate what you can, be as generous as you are able - every dollar helps! Help us this year stand together so that we can find a cure!
***We ask that you please note "FA Day Challenge" in the "In honor of" space along with the name of the special person you wish to honor or memorialize. Also please share this and challenge your friends to do this as well. Remember the challenge is for each donor to inspire 10 other donors. Thank you for your amazing support and efforts.***
