Support PeacePlayers International by participating in my 3-on-3 tournament and/or making a donation to this GREAT charity!
As a part of my Bar Mitzvah process, I have chosen to complete a Mitzvah project so I could give back to the community. I knew I wanted my project to have something to do with sports, since as most of you know, I have an obsession with them. So, I looked up a bunch of charitable organizations and found PeacePlayers International.
PeacePlayers International is an organization that uses basketball to bring children in divided communities together and teaches them how to achieve peace by working cooperatively with each other. The areas where PPI currently has programs are South Africa, Northern Ireland, Israel and the West Bank, and Cyprus.
I believe PPI's work is awesome because how often do people get to play basketball with, or even talk to someone who their country is in a conflict with?
To raise money for PPI, I am sponsoring a 3vs3 basketball tournament at Hunters Woods Elementary School in Reston on Friday, November 30 from 6:30-8:30. We will have different age brackets (ages 10-17) and several elimination games until we have champs in each of the brackets.
We'll have t-shirts for all participants and trophies for the winners.
Please sign up to take part in the tournament by making a $10 donation above, or you can bring cash or a check made out to PeacePlayers International the night of the tournament. [Note: When signing up above, please click on the link on the next page that says "Dedicate my donation to someone" and put the partcipant's name and age in the box.]
For those not participating, please consider making a donation, because this is such a worthwhile cause. And come out and cheer everybody on! Thanks!!
