Environment and Agriculture Scholarships
A fundraiser supporting Higher Education Consortium for Urban Affairs, Inc.
As one student put it, the HECUA Environment and Agriculture Program was an “Intense, thought provoking, adrenaline pumping course that takes your mind through a journey in time and space, leaving you breathless as you might discover that you know little about what you eat. Inspiring learning experience.”

Understand sustainability through the lens of the U.S. food system. Utilize a diversity of theoretical tools in a range of disciplines (ecology, agronomy, philosophy, economics, and sociology) to analyze the environmental, economic, and quality of life issues that define modern farming. Learn from the experts on the ground. Visit a wide variety of farms, a research lab, a meat-packing plant, a creamery, and a cultural arts center. Spend 3 days on a farm of your choice helping with planting, milking, and caring for animals.
