Your donations will support ovarian cancer awareness, education, and research.

This October, my friends and I will be running the 2011 Detroit Marathon/Relay in memory of one of the greatest women and friends, Jackie Bayley. In Jackie's honor, we will be raising money for the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund.

Jackie was diagnosed with stage IV ovarian cancer in April of 2009. For the past 2.5 years, she fought this terrible disease with strength, courage, humor, determination, and grace. Jackie passed away on August 27, 2011 at the age of 34.

Whether you met Jackie for a day or knew her your whole life, there is no question that she left a mark on your heart. Within minutes of meeting Jackie, you couldn't help but notice her infectious smile and laugh, the way she lit up any room, her effortless charm, and her unparalleled wit and sense of humor.

For those of us who were lucky enough to call Jackie a best friend for many years, we experienced first hand her selflessness and generosity. We received her hugs that made everything feel ok again. We admired her intelligence and good sense, her grace, class, and comforting presence. We laughed at her amazing one-liners and were warmed by her glowing smile. We benefitted from her thoughtful advice that made any issue seem manageable. We were impressed by her make-Martha-Stewart-jealous hosting and planning skills, and her ingenious tips for getting out of any sticky situation. We learned from her how to be a better friend, how to make an unforgettable first impression, and what it means to live in the present. She was truly one of a kind.

Thank you so much for your support!
