I am excited to bring together chapter leaders for network-building and training at the 2011 Challah for Hunger Leadership Summit.
The 40+ Challah for Hunger chapters are mostly based on college campuses around the U.S. Each chapter brings together volunteers, to bake and sell challah, raising money and awareness for social justice causes. In the 2010-2011 school year, more than 800 volunteers baked and distributed 30,000+ loaves of challah, raising more than $100,000 to donate to non-profit organizations including American Jewish World Service, the Harvey Kornblum Food Pantry, and the Daybreak program of the Lehigh County Conference of Churches.
Last fall, for the first time, we brought together 45 chapter leaders from 21 chapters, to meet each other and further their CfH leadership through practical training in areas such as volunteer management and challah 101. People really enjoyed the weekend together, and took practical lessons back to their chapters to increase their good outcomes.
We're very excited to build on last year's success with our second Summit.
This year's Summit is September 23-25 in Austin, Texas. Registration (which includes hotel, food, and on-the-ground transportation) is $95. Most participants are coming in from out of town, even as far as Vermont and Oregon and Melbourne, Australia!
Please help us bring as many CfH leaders to our Challah for Hunger Leadership Summit.
