Join EcoVoce in celebrating 15th years of innovative music that inspires joy in nature and renewed commitment to preserving the Earth
We at EcoVoce are saddened by the events at the Boston Marathon. With other nonprofits in Alexandria, we are partnering with ACT for Alexandria to donate 5% of funds raised during Spring2ACTion to the Boston Foundation* to support those affected by the recent tragedy. Note: The Boston Foundation is similar to Act Alexandria.
EcoVoce Celebrates 15 Years
Join us in our 15th anniversary year as we continue our musical journey of inspiring a renewed
commitment to ecology and giving voice to the wonders of nature.
We combine a passion for music and nature to create concert programs that entertain, educate, and inspire diverse audiences. The “Eco” part of the name comes from the word ecology, and “Voce” is the Italian word for voice. The year 2013 marks a new milestone for us, with over 90 concerts and outreach programs that have brought an awareness of the beauty and fragility of nature to children, families, and music lovers alike.
Our concerts, under the direction of Denise Freeland, feature original works by living American composers and weave together music, poetry, and images to create a unique and uplifting performance experience.
This year, you will see a new, expanded EcoVoce. In addition to our traditional EcoVoce trio of piano, voice, and flute, we are creating both a new multi-voice ensemble and an all-instrument group. Our music will be more global, reflecting the expressions of other cultures on our planet.
Our goal is to reach and inspire a broader audience--with even more diverse performance offerings.
What our Audiences Are Saying
“EcoVoce is that rare breed: a group of talented performing artists who care so much about the world that they use their musical gifts to raise environmental awareness. The joy in hearing them perform includes seeing audiences moved to care about our future and take action. I know of no other performers who do this as well!”
-- Mike Tidwell, Chesapeake Climate Action Network
“EcoVoce’s high artistic quality combined with hands-on involvement enticed our children into enjoying the music and broadening their horizons about the natural world.”
-- Campagna Kids Program, The Campagna Center
