ECO City Farms, a project of Engaged Community Offshoots, grows great food, farms and farmers in Prince George's County, Maryland.
ECO City Farms is an nonprofit organization focusing on community food issues in Prince George’s County and the greater Chesapeake foodshed. Our core operation is an urban farm in the working class town of Edmonston, Maryland. We demonstrate the community empowerment, economic development, job training and community health benefits of growing chemical-free food in urban/suburban environments, close to those who will eat it.
Our 1.3 acre Edmonston farm is designed to serve as a prototype for sustainable local urban farming. We envision a just, vigorous and sustainable food system in the Chesapeake foodshed with ample fertile soil, quality environments and sustainable incomes for farmers, and access to nutritious high quality food for all.
We produce approximately 4,200 pounds of produce per year, sold through CSA and farmers markets. Our farm has received the certified ‘Naturally
Grown’ designation for all its products by a group of area farmers.
We also educate youth in our summer Seed to Feed program, provide training on urban farming, and advocate for greater access to fresh healthy food.
Our focus is on the communities of the Prince George’s County Port Towns of Edmonston, Cottage City, Colmar Manor, Bladensburg and surrounding inner beltway areas communities with little to no access to healthy food. We seek to create community where residents have greater access to affordable, healthy foods and enhanced opportunities for active living.
Your support will help support and expand our operations and outreach.
