My name is Doug Henderson and I am running the Boston marathon in support of the Michael Lisnow Respite Center. I started "competing" in road races five years ago and this past year ran two half marathons. I decided there was no better time than now to run the Boston marathon and was very excited when my colleague introduced me to the the Michael Lisnow Respite Center located in Hopkinton, Massachusetts.
The Respite Center provides support programs for children and adults with disabilities. Programs offered by the center include after school care, daycare, adult day programs and overnight care which give families the emotional and physical support needed to care for their children.
I feel I can really make a difference in the lives of the families the Center supports. Many other charitable organizations are able to raise millions of dollars through various philanthropic events, however the majority of the money used to operate the Center every year comes from marathon runners like myself. Every dollar I raise will be used to support the Center and its wonderful work. I ask that you please support my run in any way you can and thank you for your help.
