Vanderbilt Sigma Chi's revitalized effort to contribute to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in honor of a brother battling Leukemia.
The Alpha Psi Chapter of Sigma Chi takes pride in the success of Derby Days each spring at Vanderbilt University. Over the course of the past six years, the chapter has managed to raise over $162,000, and look to continue this success in 2012 when we raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), founded in 1949, is the world's largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research, education and patient services. LLS's mission is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and to improve the quality of life of patients and their families. LLS created the Information Resource Center (IRC) to provide blood cancer patients, their families and health professionals accurate, current disease information and support. IRC information specialists are social workers, nurses and health educators. LLS has a special place in the hearts of Sigma Chi, as a recent active member of our fraternity has been diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, and we look forward to a special Derby Days this year in his honor and to contribute to the continued research and advancements of blood cancer.
