For the past three years, my husband and I have been a part of the Rally Foundation for Childhood Cancer Research. We were brought in by a couple of friends of ours and have not looked back.
Childhood cancer research is one of the most under funded cancer treatments, yet it is the number 1 killer of children under 18. Every day, 46 children get diagnosed with cancer. 1 in 7 childhood cancer patients die every day. Rally gives 93% back to the cause and that is why I Rally!
I am doing this race for a sweet little girl, Mia Deligeannis. Mia passed away April 17, 2012. She was only 5 years old. Her mother, Lani, will never be able to kiss her on her forehead again like she is doing in the picture above. I am running because every mother should be able to kiss their babies for the rest of their lives.
Mia was a princess, so I am going to be running in the Disneyland Half Marathon, sporting a pink tutu and a pink tiara. I will be a Disney princess FOR Mia.
