With Thanksgiving right around the corner, it is time to kick off Bread for the City's annual Holiday Helpings program. There’s nothing more emblematic of the holidays than sitting down to enjoy a large meal surrounded by those you love most. For most of us, it’s tradition. But to our poorest neighbors here in the District of Columbia, a holiday meal is a luxury they simply cannot afford. That’s where Bread for the City, Dickstein Shapiro’s longtime pro bono partner, steps in to help. Through the annual Holiday Helpings campaign, and the generous contributions of the members of our firm, we have helped ensure that thousands of families have been able to share a holiday meal.
“When I was growing up, the only time we ever had a holiday meal with a turkey was when my mom got one from Bread for the City. Without that help, we never would have had a real Thanksgiving.”

Bread for the City counts on us, and this year it needs our help more than ever. As the largest private food pantry in the District—supported by clothing, medical, legal, and social services—Bread for the City will be serving 9,000 individuals this season, and in order for them to accomplish this great feat, they need our help. Please consider renewing your support of Bread for the City and their Holiday Helpings program.
Through the Holiday Helpings program, just $29 provides a holiday meal for a family of four, which means that a small amount can bring great joy to families. No donation is too small! Dickstein Shapiro’s attorneys and staff have made a huge difference for thousands of families throughout the years. Thank you in advance for your continued generosity.
