The Wediko Century is a one day cycling event to promote: A greener world, Fitness, Community, and a fundraising opportunity for Wediko Children’s Services to make our campus more "green."

Hey Century Ride fans,

Can you believe it, we are approaching our 5th Annual Wediko Century Ride? In our first four years we have raised close to $150,000. Thank you if you have supported us in the past and I hope you will support us again this year. We have grown from 20 riders in the first year to 57 last year and we hope to grow bigger by the year.

We have worked to secure the proper approval at the state level and are set to file with FERC - the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission - and on our way to redeveloping our hydropower on our dam at the Wediko NH campus.

If you are new to our efforts please read on and I hope you will support us as well. So what is cycling a century? It’s riding 100 miles in one day. The bike ride will wind 100 miles through NH back roads down into the historical South End, in effect linking the 2 halves of our agency together – the New Hampshire Setting in Windsor, NH with our Boston office.

Wediko hold’s this event annually in order to fund our green efforts within our organization. Funds raised thus far go toward the development of a hydroelectric facility. This facility will generate power, reduce our electricity costs and enable us to direct more of our resources towards the children.

As I am sure you are aware the financial demands on a non-profit such as Wediko are great. As an agency we have grown larger with the number of students served as well as the buildings we occupy and we are looking for exciting ways to reduce our costs.

Now we all need to be more physically active and the 5th annual Wediko Century ride is one way to help in that area. This year our bike ride will take place on Saturday, September 15, 2012 to benefit the “Greening of Wediko.” I am hoping you will be interested in joining our efforts by either riding, donating and/or volunteering.

Wediko’s history has always been to improve upon what we do. It is our vision that the Wediko Century will be our way to improve our energy efficiency, lessen our footprint on this plant and most importantly allow us to provide more for our students and families.
