JF's Disaster Accountability Project Holiday Fundraising Page

I have chosen to intern with the Disaster Accountability Project because I believe that their work strives to provide a remedy to many of the problems that characterized both my experience in San Antonio and my experiences in New Orleans following the Hurricane Katrina. My experiences working in a distribution warehouse that catered to two shelters of over 12,000 people collectively revealed only corruption, mismanagement, and factional quarreling between and within all pertinent agencies ranging from the Red Cross to the many organizations, agencies, and volunteers that had arrived from all over the country. I am now working with this organization as an intern by helping with the content and infrastructure of a policy database that will be used to house myriad recommendations relating to hundreds of disasters along with the comments and perspectives of professionals and civilians about how to improve problems identified to minimize suffering and loss of life.
