I am participating in the 2010 Special Strides DANCE-A-THON. A fundraiser benefiting the Steven Werthan Memorial Fund.
"Life isn't about what you have; it's about what you have to give." This is what being involved with Special Strides has taught me. As a member of the Special Strides Junior Committee of Young Leaders I am committed to help make a difference in the life of a child with special needs.
Special Strides is located at Congress Hill Farm in Monroe, NJ. At Special Strides a therapist along with the power of the horse help improve the lives of children with physical and developmental disabilities. For a child with Cerebral Palsy or Autism this type of therapy can improve a child's muscle tone, balance, posture, coordination and self confidence in ways you cannot imagine. At Special Strides the horse is the child's companion.
For the children at Special Strides and their family's everyday can be struggle a struggle to survive, to be accepted and to just "live a normal life". Having a child with a challenge or handicap can often place a financial burden on a family. Therefore, in order to help these families, I will be joining 200 of my peers on March 6th to participate in the Special Strides 2010 DANCE-A-THON. This event will help to raise money for the Steven Werthan Memorial Fund. This fund provides financial assistance to those families whose children would not otherwise be able to receive therapy at Special Strides.
So here is how you can help me help the kids and families at Special Strides. I am asking you to please make a pledge to help me and my team fund a child's therapy. My team consists of 3 other teens and our goal is to raise a minimum of $1,500. This would allow a child with Cerebral Palsy to receive therapy for 3 months.
If you are interested just check off the amount you are comfortable donating and follow the steps.
Thank you so much for your support and generosity!
