I'm heading to the bush of Turkana, Kenya for 4 months. Please consider supporting & helping me make an impact in the lives of these people.

I hope you are all relaxing and enjoying the holidays! This year has definitely been an adjustment for me with starting college and all. I just finished my first semester strong and loved every minute of being at College of Charleston. I am writing to you all because I have some crazy and exciting news to share! Turns out, I will not be back at school next semester like I thought I would be. I’m taking a little detour and embarking on a crazy adventure that God has in store for me. I am taking a few months off before I head back to college.

I will be doing an internship for 4 months in Kenya, Africa through an organization called Bread of Life Missions. I am not going with a team like I have in the past, it will just be me and one other girl going. We are hoping to leave at the end of January and come back at the end of May... But all the details are up in the air at this point because this has all just happened (literally it got finalized last week.) We will be in the bush of Turkana for the most of the trip, which is the same exact place I went this past summer. For those of you that don’t know what the “bush” is… it’s literally the image of the desert that comes to your mind when you think of Africa. It means sleeping in a grass hut (or under the stars on the sand), no power/electricity, walking a mile to fetch water from a hole in the ground, no toilets, 120 degree heat, etc. Every person’s dream, right? :) Many people out in the bush are so far unreached that they have never even heard the name of Jesus! What an honor it is to be able to share the most wonderful story of all with them! I will be teaching the village children in a school that was just recently built, but my main agenda while over there is to just love on the people and help serve them in any way possible. I might also be traveling to South Sudan and West Pokot, but all the details are up in the air.

As you can see, I am in a definite time crunch. Since I will be living there for 4 months, the price is a good amount higher. The sooner I can get all this money in, the sooner I can buy my plane ticket and the sooner I can get over there! Raising $5,000 in a month sounds like an impossible task... But like I always say and truly believe, God has called me to this so I know he will provide. The $5,000 covers a variety of expenses like my plane ticket, transportation while there, food, supplies, etc. I am asking that you would please consider supporting me financially in whatever way you can. Every little bit helps! I am also asking that you would cover me and Sara Hendry (who I am going with) in prayer. Pray for us personally, pray for our funds to come in, pray for the Turkana people that we will be with, and for anything else you can think of!

God began a work in the unreached people group of Turkana through Bread of Life Missions – God is now sending me to continue this good work. This tribe has been radically transformed through the teams that have been sent, and I am so excited to have the opportunity to continue this. I am asking that you would join me in this incredible experience, partnering together as the body of Christ to change the world. Thank you for reading this letter and for being a part of my life. I love you all so much and I am so thankful for the opportunity to share my experiences with you. I hope everyone continues to have a wonderful holiday season and I will keep you updated with my progress! :)
