Acquiring land for preservation for the benefit of the Town of Cumberland is our core purpose which provides a "quality of life" for all.
Established in 1989, we are an all volunteer organization. Our mission is to preserve some of the natural resources of Cumberland for present and future generations including streams, ponds, wetlands, open space, working farms, scenic and natural sites, and historical significant properties, as well as indigenous plant and animal life.
We have 19 land holdings throughout the community totaling 342 acres. Our land holdings are acquired with partnering grant monies from both the town and state along with member donations.
Once acquired our volunteers provide on going monitoring and stewardship. Some of larger properities are open to the public for passive recreation. Hiking, exploring nature, educational events are frequent uses.
Stewardship programs also include collaboration with other town organizations on town public conservation lands that many times are contigeous to the Land Trust.
Supporting donations benefits the entire community that provides a meaningful LEGACY for future generations in perpetuity.
