Crisis Nursery

The Itasca Area Crisis Nursery is a community based and parent initiated program offering a non-threatening resource for parents. The Crisis Nursery provided 31 households emergency, short-term childcare for children of parents facing a crisis last year. The program conducts an initial assessment with families to identify their needs and strengths, and provides referrals and support at a time of extreme stress. Children ages 0-12 are placed in a safe nurturing environment with licensed providers, allowing the parent(s) time to deal with their situation. Care can be provided for a day, or overnight up to no more than 72 hours. Parents are asked to set goals to achieve during the placement, follow-up calls and home visits are made to families. Your donation would help fund Crisis Nursery childcare placements , the purchase of diaper and wipes and other supplies that our current funding does not allow us to purchase.
