Create a More Just World by December 10th - Michael Gompers
A fundraiser supporting INTERNATIONAL BRIDGES TO JUSTICE

For the first time in history, we have a road map for the prevention of torture as an investigative tool. Help make this dream a reality.
Joyce

Joyce, a lawyer on International Bridges to Justice’s China team, is fighting for a better legal aid system in her country. Born into a farming family, Joyce worked multiple jobs to put herself through law school at one of Beijing’s top universities. After graduation, when most of her classmates started lucrative careers in the city, Joyce chose to go back home to Xi’an to be closer to family. When Joyce became a lawyer, she was troubled by the fact that many ordinary people could not afford legal representation.

Joyce is currently assisting with the operation of the Northwest Defender Resource Center and the implementation of IBJ’s program strategy for the northwest region of China. Since 2001, IBJ has educated thousands of Chinese people, lawyers and government officials about the rule of law. Despite the immense challenges that IBJ’s China program faces, Joyce continues her work, undaunted. She truly embodies the spirit of IBJ’s work in China.

………………………………………………………………………………………………

Every day, IBJ lawyers like Joyce dedicate their lives to the defense of legal rights around the world. Their programs are under constant threat of running out of money.

Despite the risks they take on a daily basis for their work, they cannot create significant, long-lasting legal changes without adequate funding and resources. Help them realize their goals by rallying in support of their uncompromising dedication to human rights.

Your Pledge:

During this campaign, your donations will be matched by up to $125,000 through the generous funding of private donors.

My goal is to raise $500 between now and December 10th, 2009, Human Rights Day, in order to support these Fellows and the changes they strive tirelessly to achieve.

Save lives and create a more just world by December 10 – contribute now!
