For the first time in history, we have a roadmap for the prevention of torture as an investigative tool. Help make this dream a reality.

Aziz Saliba, a lawyer in Brazil, is combating crime and corruption by teaching his community practical legal skills. Growing up in Brazil, Aziz saw the need for the rule of law in Brazil's metropolitan areas, which are plagued by violence perpetrated by criminal gangs, abuse police and vigilantes. Torture and abuse by police and prison guards also remain a serious problem, which is tolerated and even justified by the authorities.

In his JusticeMaker's project, Aziz plans to educate the public on the legal rights and the rule of law in some of Brazil's most crime and corruption ridden communities. He has created human rights courses, which will teach about legal rights and foster an understanding of legal documents. These courses will be available on the internet and on DVDs that will be distributed, free of charge, to community leaders. Aziz needs your help in his project to fight crime and corruption by raising awareness on legal rights in Brazil!

Every day, IBJ Fellows like Aziz take huge risks for the defense of legal rights around the world. Their programs are under constant threat of running out of money.

Despite the risks they face for their work, they cannot create significant, long-lasting legal changes without adequate funding and resources. Help them realize their goals by rallying in support of their uncompromising dedication to human rights.

Your Pledge:

During this campaign, your donations will be matched by up to $125,000 through the generous funding of private donors.

My goal is to raise $300 between now and December 10th, 2009, Human Rights Day, in order to support these Fellows and the changes they strive tirelessly to achieve.
