The definition of compassion is to suffer with. In order to suffer with the children of Nicaragua I will be eating rice and beans to raise $
After 3 trips to Nicaragua I am still amazed at the people there. Like any third world coutry it is full of brokeness and poverty. Nicaragua is the poorest Spanish speaking coutry in the whole world and second poorest country in the western hemisphere. Besides dealing with living extreme poverty in Nueva Vida, a hurricane refuge setup after Hurricane Mitch in 1998, many of the kids kids can't find love at home from their parents. Some are physically abused while others are neglected. Even though there is so much brokeness there is even more beauty. Although these kids have nothing, they cherish the little they do have. The one meal a day they get at the feeding centers is enough to make them happy. It shows them how God is providing for them. The meals that the feeding centers provide allows the kids to get the nursihment that they need. It also allows them to concentrate in school which is important so they can get out of poverty by being properly eduacated. If I can help even just 1 person get out of poverty and better themselves than I have succeeded because they will then help someone else. We can help end the cycle of poverty in Nicaragua by helping the feeding centers provide food for these kids.
In order to raise money for the feeding centers I will be eating only rice and beans, a typical meal at the feeding centers, from Monday March 19, 2012 to Friday March 23, 2012. Please sponsor me!
