Hello Friends & Family,

We are running the Publix Georgia Half Marathon for our 6th year on Team 65 Roses to raise money for the CF Foundation & the CF Reaching Out Foundation.

For our family it is a never ending thought to CURE CF. We are excited to be involved in helping to keep CF research moving forward. Someone we love very much needs a cure, our daughter, Sarah. That's why we do this fundraiser year after year.

In 2012 there were some significant breakthroughs in CF Research, most promising being Kalydeco, a drug that can target the underlying cause of cystic fibrosis.

Patients with the G551D mutation receiving this new medication, Kalydeco, demonstrate the highest increase in lung function that has been seen in any clinical trial of a CF drug. Patients taking Kalydeco also showed a weight gain of nearly 7 pounds on average and reported that they felt better overall.

Unfortunately, Kalydeco will not help Sarah yet. We have to push forward with research. The protein in her cells has to be brought closer to the surface so the Kalydeco can help her too. Research to achieve this is underway by CF Foundation funded projects.
