Clean Clothes are Essential

Over the last year nearly 550 loads of laundry were done at New Horizons by the homeless and street involved young people we serve. While that seems to be a pretty big number of loads, it wasn’t enough to meet all the needs that our young people have. Each morning we are open for two hours, which makes it a little challenging to squeeze in more than one load in each of our washers and dryers. We have also had a number of challenges with our washers and dryers breaking down. In addition to purchasing new washers and dryers, we are seeking to add a fourth washer and dryer, considerably expanding our capacity. In order to add a fourth washer and dryer we need to make some changes to our venting and drainage systems. The good news is that we are nearly half way towards our goal of $7,100! In September we received a $3,100 grant from the Liberty Road Foundation for this project. We are hoping that some individuals will be able to step up and help us complete this fundraising project by Thanksgiving, and we can then install 4 new washers and dryers by Christmas.
