Circles of Support

Circles of Support is a community engagement strategy that provides a framework for building relationships across class and race lines. People naturally associate poverty with a lack of money. This narrow understanding may cause us to overlook non-monetary barriers that keep people poor. Circles of Support focuses primarily on fostering significant relationships and meaning in people's lives to help them reach true prosperity. Through the sharing of each other’s life experience, volunteer allies gain a new perspective of the true definition of poverty, while participants acquire the knowledge they need to make necessary changes.

This high impact strategy is designed to help participants identify the difference between personal and systemic barriers. Our Big View efforts lead to collective action toward changing the mindset of our community about how they view people in poverty and creating opportunities to make leaving poverty possible.
