Chuck Sorlie 25th Anniversary Youth Scholarship Fund

In 1985, Central Baptist Church took a step of faith and hired a full-time Minister of Youth. Chuck Sorlie came to us with a heart for city kids and an unending supply of energy and creativity. Over the past twenty-five years, Chuck has touched the lives of countless youth and their families through weekly club programs, Friday night events, Sunday morning and Wednesday night studies, basketball league, and travel. Hundreds of youth have had the experience of camping and canoeing in the beautiful BWCAW in northern Minnesota. Many older youth have traveled to Mexico City, Tijuana, and Juarez to build homes and minister to children in Mexico. Annual retreats such as Traveling Camp, Covenant Pines, and Quest have all provided opportunities for St. Paul youth to step out of their everyday environment and have positive input through relationships, shared experiences, and spiritual and character-building activities.

In honor of Chuck Sorlie's twenty-five years of service as Youth Pastor at Central Baptist Church, we are creating this scholarship fund. We want to make sure that every youth who wants to will be able to participate in these trips and retreats. We also want to continue to keep the cost low for everyone. We want to honor Chuck by investing in what is most important to him - his kids!
