Your financial help makes it possible for me to befriend, serve and love the homeless and hurting with the gospel of Christ.
I can’t believe it has been a month already. I now only have 4 weeks left here at Jefferson Street. Godhas done wonderful things. This week has been tiring, but it has made me see how much I love seeing and hearing from the people at the center. We have been closed all week redoing the floor, sanding andpainting doors, painting the pipes, and getting readyfor the new residents. It has been the longest 4 to 5 days on this trip, but it was good because we got to bond with our team.
This whole month we have been getting ready for a program called Advance 180.We have been telling people about it and getting a lot of applications filled out. I have learned a lot on how to use a printer because I have printed a lot of applications out. This program is a 6 month gospel-centered ministry for men. This will help the men change their lives. They most often are dealing with life-controlling problems. This program empowers mento change through Christian discipleship, biblical counseling, and vocational and life skills training, offering helpful relationships to assist along the journey and a connection to the local church. They will live at the center, and have to go to class and remaindrug free. Not everyone will stay in the program, but I can’t wait to see how God will change their lives.
There is over 120-200 people who will come in to the centerdaily. I have gotten to know a lot of the guests and talk with them. There is this one couple and their friend that come in sometimes. I will play cards with them any chance I get. We will play Rummy or Uno and talk about what they have done that week. I lose a lot because they are so good at it. The husband loves to come up with rap songs and tell jokes. They only come to the center once or twice a week but anytime they do it makes me happy. This is becausethey tell me all about their lives and with all that is going on in their lives, they are always happy. They sometimes tell me how they build stuff that they have found. I once was sitting in the office and one of the guests came up and started talking. He told me thathe was leaving town, and he could not take this buggy with him, so he gives it to me and tells me to give it to someone. I had no clue who to give it to, so I keep thinking. Then the husband came up to check their mail. I asked him if he would want the buggy. He smiled so big and came over to the door to get it. He looked at me and said, “The Lord will provide. We have been praying for one of these buggies becauseit is hard to carry all this stuff and push my wife in her wheel chair.” They were praying that the Lord would give them one because they did not have $30 to $40 to buy one.
Philippian 4:19 And this same God who takes careof me will supply all your needs from his gloriousriches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.
I am so thankful to everyone for being here and reading what God has done so far. I still need a lot of prayers. I am going to need prayers for me and my team. God has richly blessed me financially, how everthere are still needs to be met. I have $1,555 right now and I have to get to $2400 in the next 5 weeks. I have to thank you for supporting me in this mission. So if God lays it upon you to help in this way…I appreciate anything you can do to help.
