CAM provides immediate assistance and encouragement to people in crisis. Mostly volunteer run, CAM helps 50,000 people on an annual basis.

CAM’s mission is to share the love of Christ by providing immediate assistance and encouragement to people in crisis. Our clients are often facing chronic poverty, mental and physical illness, homelessness or recent job loss. CAM provides basic needs and then when needed refers individuals to social service programs in the community that provide long term support.

CAM operates two locations in San Antonio; the original location at 110 McCullough, and a satellite on the University United Methodist Church campus. According to the San Antonio Food Bank, CAM is the second largest emergency food distribution agency in Bexar County. CAM provides groceries to individuals and families as well as clothing, household items, linens, hygiene items, community referrals, bible study, identification recovery, prescription drug assistance, mailboxes, utility and rental assistance and local bus tickets to all needy persons that seek our help.

Currently CAM is one of very few organizations providing these types of basic needs services on a large scale with no appointment required and no zip code or demographic requirement. For example, CAM is one of the only agencies providing identification recovery and mailbox facilities for clients who are homeless or transitional. CAM serves as a bridge from crisis to stability for its clients by providing for basic needs and referring individuals and families to other area social services if needed, in order to receive more transformative help. CAM always strives to use its resources to help as many individuals and families as possible. Often, clients served may not have been eligible to receive aid at other organizations or the aid will take weeks to go through an approval process. CAM provides a gap in service, a one time help to avoid further crisis and ongoing support to those who will never be able to make it on their own.

Over 200 volunteers and donated items as well as financial contributions make it all happen. CAM provides Grace and Commpassion giving many with no hope a refuge and the help they need.
