Inspiring, Investing, and Inciting Artistic Expression
Since 1999, the Chance has presented over 100 plays and musicals, including numerous premieres. Recently nominated for six Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle (LADCC) Awards and six Los Angeles Stage Alliance Ovation Awards (including Best Season), and named "Outstanding Arts Organization" for the second time in five years by Arts Orange County, the Chance is proud to be one of the leading intimate theatre companies in Southern California. Dedicated to an ensemble-based process, the Chance's aesthetic is to intimately present personally meaningful, uniquely engaging stories that promote dialogue within their community and provide a visceral experience for theatergoers.
An integral arts presence locally, the Chance provides multiple youth programs and outreach events annually. Over the years they have expanded their educational programs to include Girl Scout Theatre Badge Workshops, the "Page to Stage" program that fully immerses students in the creative process of a Chance production, a summer youth musical production staged by theater professionals, and their signature program "Speak Up - Take a CHANCE" which provides a much needed outlet for underprivileged high school students to write, produce, direct and act in a play of their own creation.
