Thank you for your interest in Chain Reaction Theatre Project!
Chain Reaction Theatre Project ignites the human spirit by creating compelling, entertaining and socially conscious theatre, inspiring audiences, artists and communities to be more socially active world citizens.
Our vision is to use the powerful art form of theatre to increase awareness of local and global social injustices and to inspire and encourage audiences to take action.
We produce thought-provoking works that focus on issues dealing primarily with women and children. For each production, we will collaborate with another nonprofit whose work has a related theme. We produce a wide range of theatre including classic and contemporary texts, adaptations of existing texts as well as new works, which we will perform using a variety of performing arts mediums.
For our next production, we are creating a new performance in which we will be exploring the topic of healthy self-esteem and body image. We believe that instead of taking up our valuable time, energy and brain space worrying about how we look, we can instead strive to empower ourselves through self-respect, self-care and self-acceptance in order to best put our talents and skills to good use in the world.
As part of that exploration, we are collecting stories from people in our own community who are suffering or have suffered from eating disorders, or are dealing with the issue through someone close to them. These stories will be incorporated in the performance piece along with issues such as enhancement surgery, as well as the influence of past abuse, societal messages and the media.
Along with the performances, we will work to create chain reactions through fulfilling our mission of shining a spotlight on nonprofits who are working to prevent and fight eating disorders. We will also be working alongside with our community and audience members to take further action to join the cause in creating a society of people with positive self-esteem that are able to put their best foot forward in the world.
