A project of Grounds for Health
Too many women lose their lives to cervical cancer. But the tools exist to stop these unnecessary deaths. Support Grounds for Health.
Did you know that cervical cancer, a 100% preventable disease remains the #1 cause of cancer death for women in much of the developing world? Ninety-five percent of women in this part of the world have no access to basic screening and treatment. In the 21st century, how can this be?
You have the opportunity to change or even save the lives of women who play a role in your daily routine – the women who pick and sort the coffee you drink. Governments, local communities, medical volunteers and businesses are ready to work together to fight this global killer. And you can be part of this. Right now. The tools already exist to screen and treat rural women – avoiding countless needless deaths – for less than the cost of a cup of coffee.
To celebrate January Cervical Cancer Awareness Month, step up and get involved. Our goal is $3,100: $100 for each day of the month.
Since 1996, Grounds for Health has worked in coffee-growing communities to create sustainable cervical cancer prevention programs. Our results speak for themselves: more than 45,000 women have been screened and provided with follow-up care. Many more will have access to care from the 350 doctors and nurses Grounds for Health has trained in Latin America and Africa. What’s more, these communities have been empowered with the skills to provide for themselves in the future.
That’s lasting impact.
The time is right to make a difference. By donating to Grounds for Health, you support access to cervical cancer prevention and early treatment for women who are the economic engine of the developing world. By helping them, you help everyone. And your coffee will taste that much sweeter.
On behalf of women coffee farmers and their families, we thank you.
