When children walk through the doors of the Center for Alexandria's Children, some of them will be safer than they have ever been before.
Each year there are more than 1,000 reports of child abuse in the City of Alexandria. An unknown number of instances are not reported. Many of our cases show years of escalating abuse and children suffering in silence.
National statistics show a shocking prevalence of child sexual abuse. It is likely that one in ten children will be sexually abused before they turn 18 unless we do something to stop it.
The efforts of the entire community are needed to end child abuse.
Through coordinated investigation, intervention, and prevention within a robust public-private partnership we are helping vulnerable families raise happy and strong children, ready for success in school and in life.
We offer the services of an accredited Children's Advocacy Center; Learn and PlayGroups, utilizing a specialized curriculum; community education regarding child safety, abuse prevention, and Digital Identification Kits for families.
