What would it be like to carry 5 gallons of water for 5 kilometers every day and still not have enough?
in poorer countries, women and children, who are traditionally responsible for water collection, spend hours each day in search of water, often walking long, steep and rugged trails. They carry water home in heavy pots on their heads or strapped to their backs. They make this walk multiple times a day, for up to 5 kilometers each day. Without safe water sources nearby, children are sick, malnourished, and make daily treks to collect water instead of going to school. It's something we never really think about, because we are able to walk into our kitchens and get clean, safe drinking water so easily.
Join us in our fundraising efforts to help change lives and save lives! The Carry 5 Walking for Water, Arizona will take place on Sunday, April 11th at Kiwanis Park in Tempe. Participants will try to carry containers of water for 5 kilometers around the lake in support of people in need of clean drinking water. The walk gives participants a true appreciation for what women and children have to do every day just to get drinking water for their families.
Our goal for the event is to raise $6500 which will allow Water 1st to provide safe water, sanitation, and hygiene education for an entire village in India for life!
Please help us in bringing safe drinking water to families around the world. Donate online today to change lives and SAVE lives!
Thank you!
