Cancer Kids Fund—20 Years of Support for Children and Families
The Cancer Kids Fund at Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota offers vital support when family life is interrupted by medical tests, chemotherapy and other treatments. Thanks to the generosity of thousands of donors we are able to meet the needs of children and families going through the toughest challenges of their lives.
Children’s is the location of the only pediatric hematology/oncology infusion center in Minnesota. In our hospitals and clinics we provide care for the majority of children and teens in our state with cancer and blood disorders.
Make a Gift—Make a Difference
Your contribution will go directly to support children with cancer and the people who are supporting them through their treatment.
Patient and Family Services
Cancer Kids Fund donors provide families with much needed taxi services, hotel vouchers and parking passes. The Cancer Kids Fund also underwrites child life programs, a chaplaincy program, a pain management program, psychology staffing, social work support, a school re-entry program and end-of-therapy parties.
Education
Family seminars, written educational materials and 1-on-1 educational meetings with staff members who are available in person and by phone are a top priority for Children’s Hematology and Oncology program.
Research
Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota participates in more than 70 active clinical trials adding to national research and assessing treatment protocols. These studies are improving diagnostic tests, evaluating new therapies to treat cancer, or looking for ways to improve quality of life in people with cancer.
Integrative Medicine
Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota has one of the few integrative medicine programs in the United States based in a pediatric hospital. It guides staff in combining a wide range of complementary and natural therapies including yoga, water exercise, massage therapy and music therapy.
Hospice Program
This program offers home-based services of physicians, nurses, a chaplain, social workers, child life specialists and volunteers. Through this impressive combination of services children who are terminally ill are able to stay comfortably at home with their family and friends.
The Cancer Kids Fund is part of Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota where we work to bring normalcy and fun back into the lives of our young patients and families. We serve children from 100% of Minnesota counties and many children from across the Midwest.
