The Cancer Benefit Fund is a nonprofit organization that raises funds to support cancer research and care for those living with cancer.
About Us
More than 750,000 lives have been saved through improvements to cancer care over the last twenty years.
The Cancer Benefit Fund is a non-profit organization that raises funds to support new and innovative cancer research and organizations that specialize in the treatment and care for patients and families currently living with cancer.
Since the organization was formed, it has raised nearly $650,000 to fund cancer care and research. With your help, we can continue our fight against cancer and continue to help provide cancer patients and their families more moments, more time....more life.
What Your Donation Supports
The Cancer Benefit Fund supports valuable research at Masonic Cancer Center, University of Minnesota, as well as care for cancer patients and their families. Every Cancer Benefit Fund dollar remains in Minnesota for research and patient care.
Past donations have supported Masonic Cancer Center, University of Minnesota to support basic and clinical research in major cancer areas: lung, prostate, breast, pancreatic and gastrointestinal cancer. We have also supported HealthEast cancer programs for prostate cancer, the Healing Partners programs, the cancer salon and a chemotherapy unit blanket warmer.
Seventy-five percent of the proceeds from our current fundraising campaign will benefit Masonic Cancer Center, University of Minnesota and Dr. Selwyn Vickers research program in areas of stomach, small intestine, colon, rectum, anus, liver, pancreas and other digestive organs. The National Cancer Institute (NCI) designated the Masonic Cancer Center, University of Minnesota a comprehensive cancer center in 1998, and in 2003 and 2009, NCI renewed this designation. The Masonic Cancer Center is one of only 41 institutions in the United States to hold this designation. It is awarded only to institutions that make ongoing, significant advances in cancer research, treatment, and education.
Twenty-five percent of the proceeds from the fundraising campaign will be contributed to HealthEast Cancer Care to establish a GI Cancer Support Group for people living with a GI cancer.
Our Current Fundraising Campaign
The Cancer Benefit Fund has held a number of very successful events, including wine tastings, style shows, and galas. The Cancer Benefit Fund's most recent fundraising effort is a fundraising campaign, which will run through early 2011.
The fundraising campaign honors and recognizes good friends of ours and the community at large, Winston and Maxine Wallin. Win was recently diagnosed with adenocarcinoma and is now battling the very disease that the Wallins have generously donated their time and dollars to cure. Over the past several years, the Wallins have been the premier sponsor of the Cancer Benefit Fund, and with your help, we can honor him with our support and contributions.
The Medtronic Foundation has already pledged $10,000 to kick off our fundraising appeal. Please consider a donation today.
