CAMP ONOMIA

I see it every summer.
Kids come into camp on Sunday, sometimes unsure about what experiences are in store for them in this new place. Parents say goodbye for the week. Hugs are shared... even some tears are shed. It is going to be a good week!

Or there is the child who didn't want to come to this "Church camp thing." It is an alien world of creation and outdoors, filled with unknown people who want to be your friend. Where is my X-box? Where is my computer? Where is my cell phone? Get me out of this place!

Common. Real. Understandable.

But then the magic of Camp Onomia begins. Cabin groups are formed and we begin group building activities. Our wonderful role models commonly referred to as camp counselors spend a week developing community and sharing faith. Before you know it, the end of the week has come and the camp resounds with everyone's singing, laughter, and joy.

We are all a new creation because of our time together. From the returning camper who has been back for 7 years straight now to that kid I mentioned earlier who didnt want to be here at all. The magic of Camp Onomia on the shores of Lake Shakopee has once again made a significant impact on the lives of God's precious children!

Camp Onomia is a holy place for so many. Young and old come here to be renwewed along life's difficult highway... to give courage and support where it is needed... to refresh and inspire each individual that sets foot on the grounds here. Can you help to assure Camp Onomia is here for the next generation to come? The bottom line is that Camp Onomia needs ongoing financial commitments from member congregations, organizations, and individuals in order to exist. Camper and retreat fees cover only 70% of our operating budget.
