Join us as we run 26.2 miles on May 19, 2013 in Santa Cruz, CA. This will be an epic challenge to break 4 hours and raise $5k.
Cameron and I (Brian) have each ran three marathons, 2 of which together. While this started out as a friendly challenge with the Rock 'n Roll San Diego Marathon, we both realized that running was a key to fitness - both physical and spiritual. On May 19, we will both be running the Surfer's Path Marathon in Santa Cruz, CA (http://www.surferspathmarathon.com/).
It's important for us to run not only for our own fitness, but for a greater cause. Shooting for a sub-4:00 marathon is a great personal challenge, but raising $5,000 for Colon Cancer awareness, support, and research is even greater. Our current PRs are 4:22 and 4:04, respectively.
Colon cancer is the third most commonly diagnosed cancer and the second leading cause of cancer death in men and women combined in the US. The American Cancer Society estimates that 143,460 people will be diagnosed in 2012 and that 51,690 will die from colon cancer in the United States (http://www.ccalliance.org/colorectal_cancer/statistics.html).
Please help us train even harder for this epic challenge by donating today!
