Please help support my Builders Beyond Borders trip to Guyana!
This year I will be traveling to Bethany, Guyana, located in South America, with the organization Builders Beyond Borders. Builders Beyond Borders is a local program that takes high school students to developing countries all over the world to work on infrastructure projects for communities in need. This year I will be helping build a community center in Bethany, a small Amerindian town with about 500 people. The community center will be used for literacy training, cultural events, job skills, medical clinics, and more.
Many of you might not of heard of Guyana, it is a very small country that is in need of our help. Currently half of the country is unemployed and 43% are under the poverty line. By building a community center we can help create jobs and give job training for the small town of Bethany. There will also be many other teams, each with about 30-40 high school students, traveling to different parts of Guyana this year. Builders Beyond Borders partners with other organizations such as the Peace Corps, Habitat for Humanity and Food for the Poor.
Besides our 10 day trip in April, B3 students must also participate in local community service. This year I have participated in a clean water project at the Beardsly Zoo, and I will be building gardens for the Bridgeport schools. Last year B3 students did 3,000 hours of local community service and about 17,000 hours abroad.
I would really appreciate your help to raise the money for travel and materials for building!
Thank you for your donation and your support!!
