We're heading to Kenya this summer to serve alongside several churches working to share the Gospel with the Pokot People. Will you join us?
As you probably know by now, the Lord has given me a passion for the Pokot people of Kenya. He has given me two opportunities to visit our brothers and sisters on the African continent this calendar year. I traveled with 3 other men, Brian Eisner, Steve Matthews and Bob Padula, to Kenya on February 22, 2012. The goal of that trip was to get a firsthand look at how our partnership with the Pokot people and in particular with the pastors that we financially support is progressing. In addition, we discussed plans to move the partnership to new areas in the future. One thing we are looking at is drilling our first well near the West Pokot Bible College. Providing water to these drought stricken people is a high priority for us. The dates for this trip were February 22 – March 1.
In July of this year I will be leading a team of 19 people to Kenya. During this trip we will be having a family conference with the Pokot people in the Great Rift Valley near Kapenguria. The conference will have 3 components, a ministry to the men, one for the women and one for the youth. This 5 day conference has the potential to be very large. During this trip we will also have a worship leaders conference in the valley as well. We will need your prayers to make this successful and glorifying to the Lord. The dates of this trip are July 26 – August 8.
I find Paul’s words in Acts to be very inspiring as to what I aspire to in my life and in particular short term mission trips. Acts 20:24 ‘But I do not consider my life of any account as dear to myself, so that I may finish my course and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify solemnly of the gospel of the grace of God.’ May this trip bring glory and honor to God and a lasting impact on everyone involved with it. I thank you in advance for your prayer and/or financial support. We look forward to sharing our experiences with you upon our return.
