By supporting Breaking Free, you are directly changing the lives of sex trafficked women and girls by providing services, housing and hope.
Founded in 1996, by Ms. Vednita Carter, Breaking Free provides support services, advocacy, education, housing, and hope to 400-500 women and girls who have been victims of commercial sexual exploitation (sex-trafficking/prostitution) each year. Breaking Free recognizes that trafficked women and girls encounter considerable barriers that impede their attempts to reach their full potential and strives to foster the self-esteem and independent living skills needed to help them re-build their lives.
"I was at a crossroads.....I had nowhere else to go. I was homeless and being pimped out on the streets. Coming to Breaking Free has changed my life and now I advocate for others. I'm a role model to them and proof that there is a way out". Joy Friedman- Women's Program Manager
