Your financial help makes it possible for me to befriend, serve and love the homeless and hurting with the gospel of Christ.

My name is Bradley Brown and I am graduating this year from Morehead State University. When I came to college my only goal was to become a hot shot lawyer and to become as rich as I could. However, something happened my freshman year that profoundly impacted who I am, indeed, it let me know just who I am, the real me; I became a Christian. The Sermon on the Mount in the book of Matthew revealed to me what kind of an impossibly big heart God has for people, and how important justice is to Him. This teaching was unlike anything I had ever heard before, and I was amazed.

Some of the first books I read upon becoming a Christian were The Irresistible Revolution and Jesus for President by Shane Claiborne. These books helped to channel my passion and want for justice towards the poor and the hurting. I grew exponentially throughout college to the point last year I joined the summer HOPE for Louisville team on a whim a few weeks past the deadline. Again my world was shaken. For the first time I got to encounter first-hand the power and life saving potential of the Gospel. Not some new chic social awareness fad, but the ancient, powerful, living Gospel. Men were coming to know God, giving up their addictions, and shaking off the chains that bound them in slavery!

I now make my way back to Louisville for another summer, and perhaps longer, to roll up my sleeves and do my part helping and loving the homeless and hurting once more. Among the Christian Community found at Jeff St. many can find healing, whether homeless or volunteer. The opportunity to shed my disguise and live as the true me, as God meant me, is as addicting as a drug, but as good as coming back home after a long and difficult journey. Helping to support me lets me help bring others back home, letting Jesus remove the heavy burden from their tired shoulders. Please do your part to support economic, social, and spiritual justice. Thank you!
