I'm running in the Boston Marathon to raise money for an organization that supports children and adults with disabilities.

I'm a runner, a computer programmer, a basketball coach, and a farmer. But before any of those, I'm a husband and father. My life changed forever on July 28, 2005 when my son Joshua was born with a brain injury. Joshua is the fifth of my seven children, so he has six siblings and two parents who look out for him and protect him fiercly. Meeting his needs takes constant thought and effort.

When I heard about the Michael Lisnow Respite Center, I knew I had found an organization I could believe in and support. This center's mission is, "...to create a home away from home for children and adults with disabilities, a place that offers parents time off from the emotional and physical care needed by their children."

As a parent of a child with disabilities, I can appreciate the level of effort that goes into meeting those needs. Families that live with a disabled loved one make the needed sacrifices without complaint and without stopping. The idea of an organization dedicated to easing that burden is like a cool drink of water on a hot day.

I'm running in the 2012 Boston Marathon to raise funds for the Michael Lisnow Respite Center. 100% of the funds donated will be used to provide scholarships to families that can not afford the center's services for their children.

Help me support those that are already working hard to support themselves and those they love with your donation to the Michael Lisnow Respite Center.
