WITCHING HOUR ANNOUNCES ITS SPRING FUNDS CAMPAIGN!
Here at Witching Hour, we like to make magic:
Experiences, whether inside a theatre or out, that ring and shine and put sparkles in your eyes – experiences that are unique and cannot be found anywhere else. That is what we shoot for with every event or show we put on. And each season is a chance for us to improve our craft and to challenge ourselves to reach ambitious new heights. We strive to be bigger, better, and more ambitious every year.
For the last nine years, the Blue Barn Witching Hour has been one of Omaha's leading devised theatre companies; every show we've ever done was written, designed, and acted in by ensemble members. Thus, the BBWH fills a unique niche in that it is one of the few places where artists of every stripe can come together and create, collaboratively, in a safe space, such that the eventual creation is the culmination of not only months of work, but also the collected experiences and passions of those involved in the creative process. That is how we make our magic.
And now it's time for us to take our magic on the road, not only to give other cities a taste of Omaha theatre, but also to bring back ideas, aesthetics, and inspiration from some of the best devised theatre companies in the country. We started this initiative last summer when we participated in the Kansas City Fringe Festival. It was encouraging to see that our work could hold up, even shine elsewhere. But we don't want to stop there. If anything, the experience simply whet our appetites for what we can do as a company. We want to continue to take quality theatre work developed here in Omaha out into the world at large. We know who we are, relative to the other theatre companies in Omaha, and it's time for us to find out where Omaha theatre stands in relation to the broader theatre conversation going on today.
As you can imagine, such efforts are not cost-free. We are only able to accomplish these goals through the financial support of our fans and followers. So, starting now through April 1st, Witching Hour is launching our big push for fundraising this season. For the next two months (and until we meet our fundraising goals) we're getting on our soapboxes, and we're beating our chests, and we're passing the hat.
Simply put, in two months, we need your help to raise: $2,000
It may not sound like a lot, but that $2,000 will help us make a lot of magic.
Your gift, whether it's five dollars or five hundred dollars, will help us represent Omaha as best we can at a Fringe Festival this summer and at devised theatre festivals in coming years. And even more importantly, your gift will help us to bring the best of what's going on in the world of devised theatre back to Omaha.
This is how we challenge ourselves. We know we can make magic. That's what we do, and we can do it bigger than ever before... with your help.
Here's a short video to show you what we did with YOUR help last year! http://vimeo.com/54210888
OUR MISSION STATEMENT:
