Every year Southwest High School coordinates a large-scale fundraiser through our students, families, and local community in conjunction with a charity organization. This year we are excited to be partnering with Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota and Ronald McDonald House.

Our local Children's Hospital provides care to 13,000 inpatients and 200,000 ER and outpatients every year. Children's Hospital is the 7th largest children's health care organization in the US; it is non- profit and independent. Children's is one of the only hospitals in the nation with a Ronald McDonald House located within it. Ronald McDonald House offers families with children in the hospital stability, resources, and support by providing meals and a place to stay. We chose to encompass the Ronald McDonald House as a part of our fundraiser to support not only the patients at Children's, but to recognize the difficulties their families also face.

We at Southwest have been particularly impressed by a presence of cancer within our community recently; we would like to do as much as possible to support Children's Hospital and Ronald McDonald House to continue their leading-edge care of children and their families! Treating over 2/3 of the child cancer patients in Minnesota as well as ranking in the top 10 for outcomes of treating cancer both medically and surgically, we chose to work with Children's Hospital this year to support a local organization impacting our community with its breadth every day.

In partnership with Children's Hospital, we will be conducting student tours of Children's Hospital so our community can see the impact of our fundraising efforts. We are also holding toy and blanket drives for the children and their families.

We are reaching out to ask you to aid us in support of the impressive work of Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota and Ronald McDonald House and their fight against child cancer as well. Children's does not deny care to any family in need.

This year we hope to break a Southwest record, exceeding $35,000 raised. We wholeheartedly believe that with your assistance we can reach this goal!! Any contribution you are able to make will be gratefully received by Children's Hospitals and Ronald McDonald House. Please like us on Facebook, tweet your friends, and email family and friends to broaden our support. Social media works! Thanks so much for your time and consideration.
