Programs
Advancing the COMMON GOOD
United Way of Bemidji Area is much more than a fundraising organization. United Way is about improving lives. With your help, we are working to
advance the common good by focusing on education, income and health. These are the building blocks for a good life—a quality education that leads to a stable job, enough income to support a family through retirement, and good health.
Our goal is to create long-lasting changes that prevent problems from happening in the first place. Through your investment, United Way of Bemidji Area is able to fund local non-profit programs and initiatives, and invest in strategies for improving community conditions. In addition, we strategically engage and build relationships with diverse community stakeholders, contributors and partners, sharing responsibility and accountability for delivering meaningful results.
United Way of Bemidji Area funds only those programs that are most effective in delivering results that positively impact our community through: education, income and health - the building blocks for a better life. In 2009, we made an investment of $293,000 in 34 Partner Agency programs.
In addition, through the United Way's Venture Grant Program, nine area nonprofits received funding to get a jump-start on developing new and expanding programs.
Our year-round programs include:
Coats for the Community
Holiday Gifts for Kids
Week of Caring
Letter Carrier Food Drive
Someone Special Volunteer
Bemidji Volunteer Recognition
Senior Community Clean Up Day
