BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS OF CENTRAL ALABAMA

The mission of Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Alabama (BGCCA) is to provide facilities, programs, and leadership to enable all youth to develop and achieve their maximum potential in accordance with Judeo-Christian values.

Originally Birmingham Boys Club, BGCCA has provided after-school and summer programs for boys & girls since 1901- that's 111 years! Birmingham Boys Club changed its name to Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Alabama in 1990 to reflect its new and expanded mission, which included service to females and the great Birmingham community.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Alabama has clubhouses in the following communities: Bessemer, Brookside, Clay / Chalkville, Hueytown / Pleasant Grove, Jasper, Montevallo, Pell City, Warrior. Each Club has a uniqueness about it. 2 of the Clubs are in stand-alone facilities, 2 are in churches, 2 are in government buildings, and 3 are in public housing centers.

Just like the buildings they come to, our members are very unique! We accept new members ages 7-12, and the children are encouraged to remain members until they are 18. Demographically, 53% of our members are Caucasian, 43% are African American, 3% are Hispanic or Latino, and 1% are Asian or Pacific Islander. 52% of membership are male, 48% are female.
