We are touring 3000 kilometers through Europe and our goal is to raise $1 per mile for BeeHive Primary School in Africa. =)
We're taking a break from life as usual and hitting the road in the name of adventure and philanthropy. The adventure will involve pedaling and camping through Croatia, Italy, Hungary, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, and Holland on a tandem bicycle. We're hoping to raise awareness and funds for a primary school in Mzuzu, Malawi. Malawi is located in South Eastern Africa and is one of the poorest countries in the world.
We are planning to ride 3000 kilometers. Our goal is to raise $1 per mile, so whether you can give $10, $20, $200 or $3000 to help us reach our goal, we will be all smiles.
BeeHive is an extraordinary elementary school in Northern Malawi - they have everything a good school needs - skilled local teachers, nearly 300 dedicated pupils, a passionate director, and a solid curriculum. BeeHive was founded in 2003 and has been growing steadily since.
Currently, BeeHive's buildings are under construction with only 1/3 left to complete. With some classrooms still under construction, the completed classrooms are shared. The school day is split into two shifts, with the younger students take class in the morning and the older ones in the afternoon. This is working so far, but it's taking a substantial toll on the teachers and staff and BeeHive is anxious to finish construction. The funds we raise will help towards completing the new school buildings.
