The United Nations has declared that ONE BILLION WOMEN HAVE SUFFERED SEXUAL OR PHYSICAL VIOLENCE.
As part of V-Day's One Billion Rising, groups in cities all over the world are gathering in public spaces on Thursday, February 14 to dance, strike, envision.
We are planning a culminating event of Bay Area actions with this evening celebration in Oakland.
Ritual Performers will include Destiny Arts, Jennifer Berezan, Dance Brigade, Youth Speaks, Gina Breedlove & Shelly Doty, Holly Near, Fat Chance Belly Dance, Hand to Hand, Chhoti Maa, Luisah Teish, Eve Decker of Rebecca Riots, Afia Walking Tree, Mona de Vestel, and a growing list.

Bay Area Rising, a grassroots group of volunteers, is offering this performance ritual at the end of a day of activism to help us envision and create the changed world we want to see. PROCEEDS from ticket sales go to IDEX International women's organizations www.idex.org and to local organizations serving women and girls, including MISSSEY.
