I'm proud to be a 2012 RoofRaiser for Lee Carlson Center for Mental Health & Well-Being, a clinic and non-profit.

I knew Lee Carlson, and I was her neighbor and friend. The Center started in the Spring lake Park City offices, and we donated to this wonderful cause as a city.

For over 30 years, the Center has been a beacon of hope for people coping with mental health issues. Each year, they help over 4,000 youth and families from Anoka County and surrounding areas.

RoofRaiser funds help offset costs for the many uninsured and underinsured (60%) of the clients they serve.

Dolllars raised also fund the free support groups Lee Carlson Center provides to 1,500 at-risk youth in over 20 schools in our area. These are kids and teens who probably would never get mental health treatment without access through their school. Participants are youth who are at risk for truancy, depression, school failure, and criminal behaviors due to chaotic home situations.

I'm also working for Beyond the Yellow Ribbon for Spring Lake Park, and our troops and families do need the services of the clinic once in a while. Please be generous.

My group of musicians called Culver's jammers will be at the roofRaiser singing our hearts out for this fundRaiser. We sing old time, bluegrass, and country music. We are a non profit group and our singing and playing is usually given away. I will admit, I will not sit on the roof, but I will play and sing at Bob's.

If by Friday, October 12th I don't raise $5,000 I will pledge to join other community RoofRaisers by singing to those sleeping on the roof of BoB's Produce in Fridley.
