Bach for the Holidays

When I was 14 years old, I heard a recording my older brother had of Bach's organ fugues. I was stunned. How could it be possible for any human to write such a beautiful melody and then combine it with more melodies so that they not only fit together but created such moving effects? I was hooked.

Since then, I've learned a bit about how one creates such art. But the more I learn about these fugues, the more amazed I am at the creations of Bach. He couldn't have been merely human; there must have been some immortal behind the scenes.
